This policy explains what Rapunzel Construction does with information about you — when you use this website, when you send us an enquiry, and when we call or text you about it. It is written to be read rather than to be impressive, and it says what we actually do rather than everything the law would let us do.

The short version

We collect what you give us so that we can answer you and do the work. We do not sell it. We do not share your phone number with anyone for their marketing. If you would rather we stopped contacting you, tell us and we will stop.

Who we are

Rapunzel Construction is a woman-owned construction company working in Pennsylvania. This website is rapunzelconstruction.com. Rapunzel Roofing is our sister company — a separate business under the same ownership, with its own website and its own privacy policy.

What we collect

What you give us. When you fill in a form, email us, call us or text us, we receive whatever you choose to send: usually your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property, and a description of the work you are considering. Sometimes photographs of the job.

What the website records by itself. Our web server keeps ordinary logs — IP address, browser, which pages were requested and when. These exist so the site keeps working and so we can see if something is broken or under attack.

Please do not send us bank details, card numbers, or a Social Security number through the website. We do not need them to answer an enquiry or price a job, and a web form is not the place for them.

How we use it

To reply to you. To prepare an estimate. To arrange a visit, and to tell you when the crew is coming. To carry out the work and to deal with anything that comes up afterwards, including warranty questions. To keep the records a business is required to keep.

We do not use your information to build a profile of you, and we do not use it to advertise to you across the internet.

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your enquiry or your project — to confirm an appointment, to say the crew is on the way, to send a photograph of something we have found, or to answer a question you asked.

• Consent. By giving us your mobile number and asking us to get in touch, you agree that we may contact you by text about your enquiry and your project. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of buying anything from us. You are welcome to ask us to use email or the phone instead.
• How often. Message frequency varies. It depends on what is happening with your project — some weeks there is nothing to say, and on the day a crew is arriving there may be several.
• Cost. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan and your carrier. Those charges are between you and your carrier.
• Stopping them. Reply STOP to any message and we will stop texting that number. You may get one final message confirming it. Stopping texts does not cancel your project or stop us reaching you another way — if we still need to talk to you, we will call or email.
• Help. Reply HELP to any message, or use the phone number or email address in the footer of this page.
• Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell mobile numbers and we do not pass them to anyone so that they can advertise to you. Your number is used by us, to talk to you, about your work.

Phone calls

If you leave a voicemail, we keep it until we have dealt with it. If you would prefer we did not call at particular times, say so and we will note it.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets the cookies WordPress needs in order to work — the ones that keep a form from losing what you typed, and that keep you signed in if you are an administrator here.

We may use standard website analytics to see which pages people visit and how they found us, so we know which parts of the site are useful. That information is looked at in aggregate; it is not used to identify you personally, and it is not sold.

Some pages load fonts from Google, which means your browser fetches them from Google’s servers. Your browser can block cookies if you prefer — the site will still work, though a form may be less convenient.

Who else sees your information

The companies that run this business on our behalf: our web host, the plugin that delivers our contact form, our email and phone providers, and our accountant. They handle information for us and are not free to use it for their own purposes.

Where a job needs it, we may share the details necessary to do the work with a subcontractor, a supplier, or with our sister company Rapunzel Roofing — for example, if your project includes a roof. We share what the work requires and no more.

If you apply for financing, that application is between you and the lender. They have their own privacy policy and we do not control it.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

What we never do

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not hand your phone number or email address to anyone so that they can market to you. We do not run advertising trackers that follow you to other websites.

How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as it is needed for the purpose we collected it — while we are talking to you, while a project is running, and afterwards for as long as warranty, tax and legal obligations require.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs. No website or business can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct something that is wrong, or ask us to delete it. You can ask us to stop contacting you, by any method or all of them. Write to the email address in the footer of this page and a person will deal with it.

Depending on where you live, your state’s law may give you further rights over your personal information. If you want to exercise a right you believe you have, ask — we would rather sort it out than argue about whether a statute applies.

Children

This site is meant for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and if we learned we had, we would delete it.

Other websites

This site links to others — our sister company, a financing partner, manufacturers. Once you follow a link you are on their website and their privacy policy applies, not this one.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version goes here and the date at the top changes with it.
